Step 1: Gather Your Materials

Lay out all necessary materials for easy access. Ensure cleanliness in your workspace.

Step 2: Start the Base

Apply Mod Podge to the wax paper stencil. Secure adhesion is crucial for the initial base.

Step 3: Begin the Spiral

Form the initial base circle with the jute rope. Press it into the glue for a strong start.

ree

Step 4: Build the Bottom

Wrap the rope around itself to form the base. Apply glue underneath and between coils for stability.

ree

Step 5: Shape the Walls

Transition from the base to building the walls. Maintain tension for a sturdy structure.

ree

Step 6: Finish It Off

Complete the coil until all rope is used. Tuck in the end for a polished look. Carefully remove the basket from the stencil.

Part 2: Make Your Matching Coasters

ree

Step 1: Prep the Base

Place one of the chipboard backings in the center of a wax paper stencil. If you’d like, tape it down to keep it secure.

ree

Step 2: Start the Coil

Add a small dab of hot glue to the center of the chipboard.

ree

Step 3: Spiral the Rope

Take one rope piece marked for the coasters, make a small circle, and place it onto the glue.

ree

Step 4: Continue the Coil

Keep adding glue and coiling the rope around itself until you reach the end.

Step 5: Tuck & Finish

Tuck the end of the rope slightly under itself for a clean finish.

ree

Step 6: Repeat

Repeat these steps for all four coasters!

ree

Step 7: Seal & Dry

Apply a layer of Mod Podge over the entire basket and all four coasters for protection and a strong finish.
